BENEFITS OF GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE

Green infrastructure is a type of approach to water management that reinstates the natural water cycle. For instance, the City of Indianapolis has recently revealed that by reducing stormwater flows into their combined sewer system with wetlands, trees, and downspout disconnection, the City will be able to reduce the diameter of the planned new sewer pipe from 33' to 26', saving over $300 million.
Enhancement of community safety and enjoyment is required: Traditional infrastructure isn’t normally designed to deal with the increased floods and droughts that are a consequence of climate change. Napa, a city in California chose to restore the natural course and wetlands of the Napa River. Rather than lining the river with concrete. The properties located on streets lined with trees are usually valued as much to thirty percent more than those on streets without trees.
